How it runs
A weekly session after school for students who put their own name down. They come because they want to, which changes the room completely — nobody has to be persuaded that this matters.
Projects run longer than a lab exercise because the same students come back each week. A club app can grow over a term instead of being finished before the bell.
One teacher supervises. In practice the students who come to a club teach each other faster than anyone at the front can teach them.

How it is paid for
Small enough that it usually comes out of the existing activity or club budget rather than needing its own. The school holds one shared building budget for the club and it does not touch the lab's.
There is no price on this page, and that is on purpose. What this costs to run depends on how it is taught — short exercises shared between a few students cost a fraction of what long solo projects cost — and we would rather measure that in your school than quote a number we cannot stand behind. Whatever follows a pilot is agreed in writing before the pilot begins.
The catch
It reaches the students who were already going to be fine. A club tells you the ceiling of what your students can do and almost nothing about the floor, so it is a poor guide to whether the same thing works with a whole class who did not choose it.
