Who it's for

You run a three-bay shop in a mid-size Canadian town. It is you, two licensed techs and a service advisor who is also answering the phone and chasing parts. A Civic is up on the hoist for an oil change and the tech finds a torn boot and a seized caliper. The customer is at work and not picking up. The bay sits there while you wait for a yes.

The problem today

Right now the quote gets written on the paper work order and then we call. Half the time it is voicemail. We text a photo of the sheet and hope they read it. Some people say go ahead in a text, some tell the advisor at the counter, and by the time the car is ready nobody remembers who approved the control arm. Then we argue at pickup and sometimes eat the labour. Invoices get typed into a spreadsheet at night. Payments come in by card, cash and e-Transfer, and I find out weeks later that a fleet account never paid. Cars sit in the lot waiting on an answer while I turn away work I could have booked.

What the app does, screen by screen

  1. Quote builder — Where the owner or the service advisor builds a quote line by line, parts and labour hours with tax worked out, right from the bay.
  2. Customer approval — Where the customer opens the quote on their phone and taps approve or decline on each recommended item.
  3. Jobs board — Where the techs and the owner see which cars are waiting on an answer, which are approved and ready to work, and which are finished.
  4. Invoice and payment — Where the customer sees the final bill for the lines they approved and pays by card from their phone.
  5. Who owes what — Where the owner sees every unpaid invoice, oldest first, and sends a polite reminder without digging through the spreadsheet.
  6. Vehicle history — Where staff and the owner look up a customer's vehicles, the work already done and the items that were turned down, so they can be raised at the next visit.

Who uses it and what it keeps track of

  • Customers and vehicles — Name, phone, email, how they like to be reached, and each vehicle with year, make, model, plate and the kilometres at the last visit. Staff and the owner see all of them. A customer sees only their own.
  • Quotes and approvals — The work order, each line with the part, the labour hours and the price, the tax, and for every line whether it was approved or declined, by whom and at what time. Staff and the owner see all quotes, the customer only theirs.
  • Invoices and payments — What was billed, what has been paid, how it was paid, what is still owed and which reminders went out. The owner sees everything, the advisor sees the shop's, the customer sees their own.
  • Shop settings — Labour rate, tax, shop supplies charge and the wording of the reminder messages. Owner only.

What it changes for the business

The yes comes back in writing while the car is still on the hoist, so bays keep moving instead of waiting on a callback. The approved lines become the invoice, so the bill matches what the customer agreed to and the argument at pickup goes away. Work that was turned down is on the record, ready to bring up at the next oil change. Nothing gets typed in twice at night, and the owner can see at a glance who still owes and send a reminder before it goes stale.

The one decision that matters

The one decision is whether a customer approves the whole quote with one tap or each line on its own. One tap is quicker to build and quicker for the customer, but it pushes people to decline everything when they only want the brakes done today. Line by line lets them pick what they can afford now, keeps the rest on file to follow up, and records who tapped approve and when, which is what settles a dispute at pickup. Go line by line, and keep a note field so the advisor can add what the tech found.

What to build first, and what can wait

Build the quote, the approval, the invoice and the list of who owes what. That is the part holding up the bays and the money. Leave parts supplier price lookups, online booking, inspection photos, courtesy car tracking and seasonal maintenance reminders for later, once the shop is running every job through the app and you know which of those you actually miss.

How BooDoo builds it

You describe your shop and the app in plain words and BooDoo builds it. It sets up the database and the sign-in with roles, so techs see the jobs board, the advisor builds quotes, and each customer sees only their own vehicle and bill. The same request gives you a website on its own live address and an Android app you can publish to Google Play under your own account, with your shop's domain connected. Card payments and text messaging come in through ready integrations, plus a WhatsApp button for customers who prefer it. Later you describe the change and it changes.

How you'll know it works

Approvals come back while the car is still on the hoist. The whiteboard column for cars waiting to hear back is empty by mid-morning, and at pickup nobody argues about what they agreed to.

Build it

Paste this in and it gets built.

I run a three-bay repair shop and I need an app for quotes and invoices. My advisor should be able to build a quote on her phone while the car is on the hoist, with parts and labour hours on separate lines and tax worked out, then send it to the customer by text so they can tap approve or decline on each line, and I want to see the moment it comes back with the name and time saved so nobody can say later they never agreed to the brakes. When the work is done the approved lines should turn into an invoice the customer can pay by card from their phone, or I mark it paid in cash or e-Transfer. Give me one screen with every unpaid invoice, oldest first, and a polite reminder I can send, and keep each customer's vehicles, past work and the items they turned down. My two techs should only see the jobs board. I see everything.

Paste that request and it gets built, with a real database, sign-in and a phone app. You can change anything afterwards.
