Who it's for
You freelance on your own from a room at home in Lahore, Karachi or Faisalabad, doing design, video editing, web work or writing. Clients come from referrals and old colleagues. Maybe a cousin helps part-time when a delivery is heavy. The problem bites at the end of a slow month, when nothing new has come in. You scroll WhatsApp, see a client whose work you did before Eid, and realise nobody ever said no. The two of you just stopped talking.
The problem today
Right now my client record is my WhatsApp. If I need something, I search the chat. There is no list anywhere of everyone I have worked for. A client gives me three jobs, then goes quiet, and I remember them only when I happen to scroll past the chat months later. I keep meaning to message old clients and ask if they need anything new, but when work is on I have no time, and when work is slow I cannot remember who to message. Sometimes a client asks where their final files are and I am hunting through my laptop and my phone. The work itself is good. It is the staying in touch that I lose.
What the app does, screen by screen
- Follow up today — The owner opens to the clients who have gone quiet the longest and anyone they promised to get back to, so the first thing they see each morning is who to message.
- Client list — The owner sees every client they have ever worked for in one place, with when they last spoke and what that client last bought.
- Client page — The owner sees one client's whole history in one screen, every job, note, quotation and delivered file, with a button that opens that client's WhatsApp chat.
- Add job or note — The owner or the part-time helper records a new enquiry, a job, a delivery or what was said on a call, in a few taps, before it is forgotten.
- Client portal — The customer signs in and sees only their own work status, their delivered files and the quotation and invoice sent to them, without having to message and ask.
- Money due — The owner sees work that has been delivered but not yet paid for, so the follow-up for new work and the follow-up for old payment happen in the same round.
Who uses it and what it keeps track of
- Clients — Name, business name, phone and WhatsApp number, city, what kind of work they buy, how they came to you, when you last spoke and when to speak next. Only you and your helper see this list. A client never sees another client.
- Jobs — What the work was, what was agreed, the start and delivery date, which stage it is at, and whether it is still open or closed. You see all of them. Each client sees only their own.
- Follow-ups and call notes — Who you contacted, on what day, what was discussed, and what you said you would do next. For your eyes and your helper's eyes only, so you can speak to a client as if you remember everything.
- Files and papers — Quotation, invoice, drafts and final delivered files, kept under the client they belong to. You upload them. That client sees their own in the portal and nothing else.
What it changes for the business
No client quietly disappears any more. Old clients come back because you reached out first, not because they happened to remember you. You stop losing an afternoon searching chats for a file or a price you agreed last year. Clients stop messaging for updates because they can see their own status. Delivered work that was never paid for stops sitting unnoticed. The slow weeks get shorter, because when there is no work in hand you know exactly whose door to knock on.
The one decision that matters
The decision is who decides when a follow-up is due. One way, you set a next date for every client yourself. The other way, the app watches the silence and puts any client you have not spoken to in a long while onto the follow-up list on its own, and you can still set your own date when a client asks you to call in March. Go with the second. A freelancer who is busy delivering will not remember to set dates, and that is exactly how a client goes quiet in the first place. Let the silence itself raise its hand. Then the list is never empty just because you forgot to fill it.
What to build first, and what can wait
Build the client list, the last-spoken date, the follow-up list and the client page with its WhatsApp button first. That much alone brings work back. The client portal can come next, showing only work status and delivered files. Invoices, money due and a sign-in for your helper can wait. If you still cannot see who has gone quiet, no portal is going to earn you a job.
How BooDoo builds it
You describe it in plain words and BooDoo builds it, with the database and the sign-in behind it, so you see every client while a client signs in and sees only their own jobs and files. The same request gives you a website on its own live address and an Android app you can publish on Google Play under your own account, and your own domain can be connected. The WhatsApp buttons open the chat with that client straight from their page. Later you describe the change, whether it is the follow-up gap or adding payments. If you would rather not build it yourself, BooDoo Launch builds it for you.
How you'll know it works
A job comes in from a client you had not thought about in months, because the app put their name in front of you and you messaged them, not because they happened to remember you.
Build it
Paste this in and it gets built.
I work alone as a freelancer and all my clients are just WhatsApp chats, so I keep losing touch with people who used to give me work. I want an app where I keep every client with their phone and WhatsApp number, their city, what kind of work they buy and notes from our calls, and under each client all the jobs I have done for them with what was agreed and what was delivered. The home screen should show me who to follow up with today, starting with the clients I have not spoken to for the longest time, and let me open their WhatsApp chat with one button and then mark that I have contacted them. I also want my clients to sign in and see only their own job status and the files and quotation I sent them, so they stop messaging me for updates. Please give me the phone app with a website behind it.
Paste that request and it gets built, with a real database, sign-in and a phone app. You can change anything afterwards.
